The values that the people of the village
of Gažon in the Slovenian Littoral share
their values with the olive trees are timeless. The mutual connection, care, hard work and
true understanding of nature bear witness to
a perfect symbiosis between man and tree, which comes into full fruition as
the molten gold that they call olive oil. On the other hand, the seaside climate
with its strong winds provides
a challenge for the olive trees that stand on a terraced slope above
the sea on
the Valley of Tranquility farm. At times they are pampered
by the sunrays, while at others
they face the harshest conditions. They are unaided by the traditional
organic farming methods that
do not interfere with the delicate balance between trees and nature that enables
olive fruition.
Thus the trees are strengthened, yet some are ruined
by the Mediterranean climate that demands
nothing short of perfection.
